Extra Special Skin Care For Anti-Ageing

10 ways to beat wrinkles

"Every wrinkle on your face is where a
smile has been."

Fine lines and wrinkles are inevitable as we age, but with a little special skin care and our Top 10 tips, you can beat wrinkles forever!

1.  Sun protection

The single biggest cause of skin ageing is sunlight. You should use a sunscreen every single day of the year.   This will help skin from premature ageing, as well as guard against burning.

The ageing rays of the sun are as prevalent in winter as they are in summer, so using a sunscreen is a facial care safeguard.

2.  Don't smoke

Cigarette smoke speeds up the ageing process because it strips your skin of oxygen and slows the rate of new skin cell regeneration.

It's responsible for giving the skin a gray, sluggish look and can cause fine lines around the mouth.

3.  Deep cleanse

Many older women don't cleanse their skin as well as they should believing this can lead to dryness and lines.  Cleansing your skin properly is essential to ensure your skin is cleared of dead skin cells, dirt and makeup, and gives your skin a fresh, healthy glow.

Massage a good creamy cleanser into your skin and rinse off with warm water.  If you prefer, choose an oilier formula to plump out tired skin, then rinse off with plenty of warm water.  Always pat your skin dry with a soft towel, don't rub.

4.  Deep moisturize

As well as using a daily moisturizer you can give your skin an extra boost by using a weekly nourishing face mask, or apply a thick layer of your night cream and leave on the skin for 20 to 30 minutes, then gently remove with a damp cottonwool pad.

Apply to damp skin for extra effect.

5.  Boost your circulation

Choose a gentle facial scrub or exfoliater and use once a week to gently remove dead skin cells and keep the top layers of your skin glowing with good health.

Alternatively, you can get the same effect by lathering up a facial wash with a shaving brush.  Rinse away with warm water.

6. Disguise lines

Existing lines can be minimized by using the latest light-reflecting foundations, concealers and face powders.  These contain luminescent particles to bounce light away from your skin, making lines less noticeable and giving your face a wonderful luminosity.

7.  Pamper regularly

You owe it to yourself to treat yourself occasionally to an extra special facial treatment such as a facial, special anti-ageing serum or anti-ageing cream.  As well as improving the look of your skin, they'll encourage you to give your skin extra care on a regular basis.

8.  Be weather vain

Extremes of hot and cold weather can strip your skin of essential moisture, leaving it feeling dry and irritated. Central heating can also have the same effect.

Ensure you moisturize regularly, changing your skin care routine to suit the weather conditions.  In warm weather, lighter moisturizers feel more comfortable however in the winter months an oilier product is more suitable to prevent it freezing on your face.  You can boost your skin care in by using a special serum from time to time.

9.  Be gentle

Always be as gentle as you can when applying skin care products and don't drag your skin, particularly around the delicate eye area.

A heavy touch can cause your skin to stretch and appear "crepey".  Always use a light touch and stroke upwards, rather than drag the skin down.

Avoid any products that make your skin feel irritated or itchy and switch to a more gentle formula.

10. Clever makeup

Skin care benefits aren't simply confined to skin care products.  In fact, many makeup products include UV filters and anti-ageing formulations to treat your skin as well as improve its appearance.

Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. It's great for your skin and keeps you hydrated.
