Balanced Skin Care Advice For
Combination Skin

Combination skin care needs a careful approach because it has a blend of oily and dry patches.

Combinations skins tend to have an oily T-zone across the forehead, down the nose and on the chin.  The other areas tend to be dry and need more moisture to prevent flaking and irritation.

Combination skin care involves a twin approach - treating the oily areas and dry areas individually.  To test which areas are dry and which ones are oily, press a tissue over your face an hour after washing it.  Any greasy patches indicate oiliness.

Cleanse

Use a foaming facial wash in the morning to cleanse your skin.  This will ensure the oily areas are clean and that the pores on your nose are kept free of pimples and blackheads.  Massage into damp skin, concentrating on the oily areas.  Splash with cool water to remove the cleanser.

Switch to a cream cleanser at night to ensure the dry areas are kept clean and soothed.  Massage well into the skin concentrating on the drier areas, then gently remove with a damp cottonwool pad.

Tone

To freshen your skin, use a mild toner for the oily areas, then dilute the toner with mineral water for the drier areas.  Sweep the toner over the T-zone with a cottonwool pad, then gently pat the diluted mixture on the dry areas.

Moisturize

Choose a medium strength moisturizer and use over your entire face, gently massaging in.  Then blot off any excess from the oily skin areas with a tissue.  This will give your skin all the nourishment it needs.

Swap commercial face scrubs for a handful of oatmeal massaged directly into the skin.
