Jeff Harnar

by our Music Guru Maureen ("Mo") Mahoney

Allow his vocals to tantalize your senses,
reminiscent of the aroma of melted caramels, awaiting your surrender
an inviting treat in taste and sinful pleasure.....

Music is a sound that cannot be expressed fully in words
But my heart has a voice, and it is with my heart, I write this review. . .

Jeff Harnar has accomplished so much in his career, it is almost difficult to begin my review. Where does one start?...."Let's start at the very beginning".....or for me...the launch of my journey to meet and know this incredible artist. In a short time, I have come to adore this man for the many gifts he bestows upon the world.

Jeff HarnarJeff's latest endeavor "Dancing in the Dark" is an album of delicate beauty. Exquisite, timeless and astounding are a few adjectives that immediately come to my vocabulary. With the title track "Dancing in the Dark", Jeff harnesses the elegance he was born to sing with and about. Truly one of the most beautiful starts an album can possess. The orchestrations, the soft tinkling of the ivories set the tone, and with Jeff's voice, the connection has been formed! This is the beginning of perfection and pleasure not many artists can claim fame to.

Jeff's artistic attributes will immediately wrap around you like a favorite sweater. Enjoy the warmth and softness your mind has been longing to feel. The sensation of peace and serenity will envelope you, a feeling you will endure until the last song is sung. This album is a true masterpiece of sentimental emotion.

You may find yourself back in an era, waltzing with someone you love...the songs and his voice transport you immediately......black tie, ball gowns, and the orchestra...how I wish I could be there now! But all I need to do is put on "Dancing in the Dark" and permit Jeff's voice to take me on a fantastic voyage, and one I take endlessly and so very often.

Here you will find a man whose vocals and artistry are in a word profound. Jeff has captured the pulse of the city and delivered it here to you now. Take a look at the songs, beautiful in sentiment only Jeff can grace you with: "Taking a Chance on Love", "You Can Do No Wrong", "I Walk A Little Faster", "Lonely Town", "How Little We Know", "Put 'em in a Box" (Tie It With a Ribbon), "Love, Look Away", "I Say Hello", "By Myself", "On a Clear Day", "East Side of Heaven", "Blue Skies" and "Shall We Dance?"

Jeff has the intelligence to take a song, and make it his own with each syllable, interpretation and powerful delivery. Not surprising this man is a 3 time MAC Award Winner (Best Male Vocalist) and a 4 time Bistro Award Winner. His talent is clearly evident with every track. Listening to Jeff sing, you will find yourself mesmerized and encapsulated in an era longing to be born again, and Jeff has the vocal attributes to make it a time capsule reality.

If I had to pick a favorite on this album "Love, Look Away" is so stunning it will bring tears to your eyes, a song so breathtaking in voice, yet heart breaking in meaning. You may be rooting for him to never give up on love....this man is deserving of so much!!

I also have come to adore "East Side of Heaven" and "I Walk a Little Faster" for the sentiments he is portraying. This album is quite a love story in the making, so if you see the world through rose colored glasses and your glass is half full, you have just stumbled upon the album to own! If you want to unearth more about this incredible artist, I urge you to log onto www.jeffharnar.com and browse the site. Here you will learn all there is to know about Jeff, the other glorious albums, his shows, and do take your time....there is so much to peruse. I'm sure you will come to adore this man as I have. Finding his music has only enlightened my life with more hope and joy than I ever thought possible.

There are two things here and now I must say.....seeing Jeff perform is unlike any experience you will undergo. You will find yourself being drawn to him from the vocal talent, his laughter, the camaraderie with the audience...this man will settle into your heart from one performance and at that precise moment, the journey for you has just begun.

But hold onto your hats, for meeting him afterwards is an extra added bonus. As you find yourself face to face with Jeff, be careful, for his gorgeous baby blues and incredible smile may leave you speechless. Jeff Harnar is one class act! He will immediately put you at ease with his eloquent voice and undying appreciation. Your time with him will become an everlasting memory...."style like this cannot be purchased" and Jeff Harnar has it in spades!

Manhattan is one lucky city, for not only does Jeff perform around town, he will be showcasing his "Dancing in the Dark" series at "Feinstein's at the Regency", a beautiful club nestled on Park Avenue. Can you think of a better place to be? Macy's may have their annual Thanksgiving Day Parade, but here in Manhattan, they still have a "best kept secret"....Jeff Harnar! Become a part of the magic and join the many who have found themselves on the "Team Harnar" bandwagon.

For a change, I'm ending my review with a quote that mirrors what "Dancing in the Dark" and Jeff Harnar have come to mean to me.....I hope you find these words helpful in your decision to do as I do....enjoy your life and welcome this extraordinary voice....allow yourselves to feel love as you have never felt before.....

"The purpose of life, after all, is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost,
to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experiences."

This is my "MO-ment of Music" I happily share with you....

All the best,

Mo
